Formerly an industrial town, the thriving city of Tampere is now one of Finland’s most technologically-progressive urban spreads.

With some 210,000 citizens, Tampere is large by Finnish standards, but much like the capital city of Helsinki, its central core is compact enough to tour by foot.

Tampere is just 120 kilometers north of Helsinki, and it is well linked to the capital by public transportation. The country’s second-busiest international airport is also found in Tampere, so flying in from Helsinki or abroad is always a way to arrive as well.
