European\Phase Change and Ovonics Symposium

Without Vision We Perish

E\PCOS is the European Symposium on Phase Change and Ovonic Science. The symposium is organized on a non-profit base and all the members of the program and the organizing committee work on a voluntary base.

Our Mission

Our mission is to discuss latest technology achievements and possible new application areas in a casual and private atmosphere and to provide fruitful interactions between opinion and technology leaders of the industry. With such approach we give life, growth and blooming to the "phase change" paradigm.

History of E\PCOS

The first symposium on phase-change technology was held on September 27, 1990 in Iwate University, Japan under the name of PCOS. In the meantime, since then, 18 PCOS Phase Change conferences were already successfully held in Japan.

In 2001, under the sponsorship of PCOS, the first European Phase Change Symposium was successfully conducted at Berghotel Schwägalp, Säntis Switzerland.

In 2003, during the 2nd European Phase Change Symposium, the E\PCOS Committee decided to extend the scope of the Symposium to Ovonic memory, because the phase change paradigm has an even higher potential for solid memory in the future.
